100 Things About Me
This is a work in progress, and will continue to evolve....** UPDATED JANUARY 2012 **
100 Things About Me
1. I love Sci-Fi, Fantasy, Musical Theatre, living in L.A and cake.
2. I finally met Ben Affleck. And he's just as pretty in person.
3. I'm an explorer & tour guide at heart.
4. Call me Shephard. It's my name.
5. 2009 travels: Tokyo, London, Paris, Barcelona and Kyoto.
6. 2010 travels: Paris, Melbourne & Sydney.
7. 2011 travels: London, Madrid, New York, Philadelphia.
8. I'm traveled out for a while, but Prague is on the list.
9. ever done drugs, but if potatoes were an illegal substance, I'd be in trouble
10. I "get" cats. And they generally "get" me.
11. If you saw the way I inspect the contents of a can/envelope of tuna fish, you'd swear I had a background in forensics.
12. Spiders remind me not to limit myself...and they remind me of boots. Big stomping boots.
13. I still like ABBA.
14. I generally avoid groups... I'm not a joiner.
15. Artists I've been faithful to for a long time: Indigo Girls, Jason Mraz, Emily Skinner, Alice Ripley, Kristin Chenoweth, Robbie Williams, Shawn Colvin, Shania Twain, Kate Bush, Will Young, The Corrs, Celine, Rufus Wainwright, Michael Buble, k.d. lang, Rockapella, Ella Fitzgerald, Westlife, Doris Day, and Musical Theatre in general.
17. BThe Big Picture is importnat to me. It's also my fave Elton John CD.
18. The book "Loving What Is" made me relax a lot.
19. My 82 year old mom texts me with her iPhone. I admire that.
20. Barcelona reminded me a little of San Francisco and Boston
21. Kyoto reminded me a little bit of Barcelona.
22. My cats remind me to stop and breathe and be.
22. Walking is my religion.
23. We love Vegas, but rarely gamble more than $10.
24. Pinterest... oh yes, you'll find me there.
25. I read Twilight and The Hunger Games. For research.
26. I don't watch crime, detective, lawyer or medical dramas.
27. Getting married made a much bigger difference in our lives than I thought.
28. My favorite Broadway Musicals: Into the Woods, Next to Normal, [title of show], Chess, Wicked, Company, Thoroughly Modern Millie, Hairspray, Tick Tick Boom, Sweeney Todd, A Little Night Music, Jekyll & Hyde, Triumph of Love, Hair, Big River, Blood Brothers, Avenue Q, 25th Annual Putnam Co. Spelling Bee, Urinetown, She Loves Me and many others!
29. I collect names & quotations. :)
30. My cats think I'm a good dancer.
31. I've learned to cherish things left unsaid.
32. I had 4 siblings. Lost a couple, have a couple left.
33. I used to want a Spanish style home so I could go nuts with colorful tile.
34. I believe life is a conversation. I try hard to listen.
35. I lived on an island. The story is on my blog.
36. I survived the 80's; thankfully the photos didn't. :)
37. When it's time to move on, I do so very quietly without fanfare.
38. I love chocolate cake. Good choc. cake is hard to find.
39. I got married in 2008 after 21 years of living in sin.
40. My Dad lost all his teeth to a flying ashtray. See, smoking *is* dangerous.
41. LA is my home.
42. As a kid, I never dreamed I'd fall in love or travel the world.
43. CONTACT, starring Jodie Foster, is my favorite movie. Its message was profoundly far-reaching and yet intensely personal.
44. After decorating 5 houses in 12 years, I'm tired.
45. The Muppets make me laugh.
46. So does Modern Family.
47. I knew I'd never have children as early as age 9. That may have something to do with having 8 neices and nephews and 4 siblings.
48. I miss Jim Henson.
49. I don't miss my father.
50. As a kid, I used to sit over the floor vent in the bathroom and read books.
51. I like this quote from Bette Midler (paraphrased): “I’d rather have a wonderful adulthood and a horrible childhood, than a wonderful childhood and a horrible adulthood.”
52. We’ve seen more than 100 musicals and plays, half of them on Broadway.
53. I used to draw as a kid.; I can barely draw now. Why bother when you're married to an animator?
54. I loved florescent crayons as a kid.
55. Toasted tuna-fish sandwich with tomatoes? Yes, please!
56. "Husband" is the right word.
57. I can forgive just about anything. But forgetting is not always part of the deal.
58. I put myself through college.
59. I'm not easily star struck. But an elevator ride with Josh Duhamel in Tokyo did leave a lasting impression.
60. Attending The Oscars was a lot more fun than I'd have thought.
61. I'm so proud of my husband and the films he makes.
62. I love Indian food. And Thai.
63. I avoid people who need to be right, who are addicted to validation.
64. My home is Mid-Century Modern. It makes me happy.
65. I miss Nell Carter and Madeline Kahn.
66. I don't miss Florida. Though I do miss EPC*T.
67. I’m a professionally trained singer, but have never done Karaoke.
68. I got blitzed in Melbourne, Australia, and sang in front of Zach Levi. Yep.
69. The crab in Tokyo tasted like a barbeque potato chip. A barbeque potato chip with legs.
70. Show, don't tell. This works for me.
72. Apple juice & cherry pie make me feel short of breath.
73. Emily Saliers is an amazing song-writer.
74. I lived in The Boonies for all of my childhood.
74. I'll never willingly live more than 20 miles from a real city again.
75. An open mind is important to me. But I don't straddle fences.
76. Songs have inspired more of my writing than anything else.
77. I don’t like collecting because of the thought of replacing.
78. Venice, Italy remains the most beautiful & magical place I've ever been.
79. I don’t like anything touching my neck.
80. The one exception: I love scarves (and cities that like scarves... Paris!).
81. We have more straight friends than gay friends.
82. The reason: it's hard to find gay friends who are "real."

84. Been fascinated by Greek/Roman Mythology since childhood.
85. I live with a Star Wars Fan. I've seen each movie at least 3 times.
86. Embrace who they are, not who you want them to be.
87. My dad took me hunting when I was 9, and I scared all the deer away on purpose.
86. If you support a group, you are responsible for its choices.
87. I love orange tulips. And orange roses.
88. I'd wanted to live in CA since I was 9.
89. Naturally, I've seen every D*sn*y An*m*ted movie made.
90. My faves: "Sleep*ng Be*uty," "C*nderella," "L*lo & St*tch." And T*ngled.
91. I'm optimistic by determination.
92. My favorite Pix*r film: Ratatouille.
93. Cynicism is lazy. It's apathy & fear disguised as "cool."
94. Kung Fu Panda was brilliant, funny and visually dazzling.
95. I loved the movie "Midnight in Paris."
96. I haven’t eaten beef for about 22 years. I don’t like the taste of it.
97. I'm a published author. It took a long time.
98. I love board, card and party games. But a relationship is no place for games.
99. I write what I feel. And I don't really feel straight. Go figure.
100. I will always believe in things I can't prove. Because lack of proof... isn't proof either.
