A Day in the Life of Sydney

Sydney is a fun city, plain and simple.

I've never seen another city with such cute little water taxis.

Who embraces such originality and ingenuity... even if the idea came from another country...

And who opened its arms for foreign royalty so willingly.

Our 1st of 6 hotel stops on our 18 day stay.  Sheraton on the Park, Sydney (Hyde Park adjacent).

The bar.

Our room.

Ok, it's a suite.  Thank you, M*ckey.  :)

With a gorgeous bathroom.

And a welcoming array of sweets, natural and otherwise.

And a stunning view (Hyde Park, and St. Mary's Cathedral)

A really lovely park to walk in.

With nearby attractions and plenty of shopping through passageways (arcades) that cross through buildings to get to other streets.  Love that.

Fountain with Apollo, Hyde Park.

St. Mary's

No clue how this photo got in my camera.

Or this slightly disappointing blurred shot of the beautiful stained glass inside that must have been taken in a hurry for fear of burly nuns with large rulers.

An evening begins with a visit to Blue Hotel at Woolloomooloo (say it with me.... woo-loo-moo-LOO).

Lobby of the hotel.   We were taken here by the presiding Mouse Crew, and loved it so much, we returned later in the vacation with our friend Clark.

Industrial meets posh-glitz with splashes of color.  Me likey.

The hotel's bar... Waterbar:

The entire hotel and bar and rooms, if you haven't guessed, used to be a factory out on a warf.  Very fun.

Our bartender preparing concoctions just for us....  I love these two shots

Our server, waiting for him to finish, so she can bring us these:

Yay!  A Zombie, an Eggnog Grog and a Cosmo.

Then it's just a pop outside and around the corner of the building to the warf side... to what turned out to be one of the BEST Indian meals we've EVER had!  Not exaggerating.

Fun wine thingy to aerate the reds.  :)

I don't remember what this was. Never had it before. Those are noodley things with egg and I believe chicken and curry.  Yummy!

Chicken Tika Masala...

It was absolutely some of the best Indian food we've ever had.  I'm so sad the restaurant is on the other side of the world.  Exceptional.   We ate til we were STUFFED.

And then we left Woolloomooloo warf to walk home through The Royal Botanic Gardens....

...to the Circular Quay (inexplicably pronounced "key"), home of The Opera House.

... and nearby neighborhood "The Rocks"  -- filled with shopping, galleries, cafes, bars, hotels and restaurants, yet feeling more like a neighborhood.... just under the Sydney Harbour Bridge.

I always hate it when cute guys won't get out of the way of my photo, don't you?

Sydney is such an easy city, filled with friendly people and great food.  And stunning photo ops.

I've returned from London and Madrid, and we have finished The Blonde Ambition Tour, so I will be posting regularly again.  Life will quietly resume its regularly scheduled programming.  I'm very grateful for my adventures, especially now that they've ended.   And happy to share.

If enough people are interested, I'll keep posting photos, right into Madrid and London.
